Die Mexiko 50-Peso-Goldmünze, auch bekannt als „El Centenario“, ist eine große Goldbarrenmünze, die ursprünglich 1921 geprägt wurde, um den 100. Jahrestag der Unabhängigkeit Mexikos von Spanien zu feiern. Obwohl sie einen Nennwert von 50 Pesos hat, war sie nie als Zahlungsmittel gedacht – dieser Wert ist rein symbolisch und spiegelt nicht den Goldwert wider.
Der Centenario besteht aus 37,5 Gramm (1,2057 Feinunzen) Gold, mit einer Legierung aus 90 % Gold und 10 % Kupfer, und hat einen Durchmesser von 37 mm. Er wurde von 1921 bis 1931 und dann erneut von 1944 bis 1947 hergestellt, mit späteren Nachprägungen von 1949 bis 1972, die alle das Prägejahr 1947 tragen.
