About the Cartier Tank Française 2006 Christmas Limited Edition:
Cartier introduced the Tank Française in 1996, bringing an integrated metal bracelet and a more angular case design to the historic Tank collection. Its distinctive bracelet construction, rectangular dial, and polished case quickly established the Française as one of Cartier's recognizable modern watch designs.
In 2006, Cartier marked the collection's 10th anniversary with a special Christmas limited edition of 3,000 pieces. Reference W51030Q3 departed from the traditional silver Cartier dial in favor of a vivid raspberry-rose color scheme, decorative Cartier motifs, silver-tone Roman numerals, and a coordinating pink spinel cabochon crown.
The dial is the defining feature of this edition. Its rich pink-red coloring and decorative surface give the familiar Tank Française a distinctly different appearance from the standard-production models, while preserving the rectangular case and integrated bracelet that made the collection successful.
Produced during the period when Cartier released several special-edition Tank Française designs for the Asian market and holiday season, the W51030Q3 is an interesting example of the maison's more experimental dial treatments from the 2000s.
